Modern Oil boilers have come a long way in the last decade or so. They no longer have the reputation of
the loud, dirty smelly boilers of the past. The range of appliances is extensive; there are boiler house,
utility and kitchen models, wall mounted, hole in the wall, combis, condensing and condensing combi
boilers, most of which can be fitted externally as well as internally. Oil fired Cookers and stoves are also
part of the vast range of Highly desirable Oil appliances. All of which are stylish, compact, highly reliable
and ultra efficient, and if fitted with a room sealed balanced flue, extremely quiet.

SAFTEY OF OIL HEATING

The Laws concerning the Installation of Oil tanks and Oil fired Appliances changed on 1st April 2002. It
became a legal requirement to deposit full plans to the Local Authority if you want to replace or move
your Oil tank or Oil fired appliance, it is also a legal requirement that the Installer arranges to have the
appliance Commissioned. Alternatively, if you choose an OFTEC registered Installer they can bypass
the need to deposit plans, and have the authority to Self Certify their work.

More details of the regulations can be found under our News and Regulations section.

Although HEATBASE are registered Installers, we no longer Install Boilers or tanks, instead focusing our
time on the Service and repairs of the appliances. A full list of registered Installers can be found on the
Website of OFTEC, our governing body www.oftec.org They are all registered and therefore
recommended by OFTEC, but not necessarily by ourselves.

We always advise to use Installers that have been recommended by someone you know, and preferably
by more than one person. Or ask the potential Installer if they can put you in contact with any of their
clients.
